Founded in March, 2002, The Training Center for Early Childhood Professionals Inc.
(The Training Center) is the product of Lyle Greenman and his 30+ years of experience in Clinical Psychology, Child Development and Child Care Management. The Training Center’s roots are grounded in First Class Child Care Inc., Long Island’s first developer of employer supported child care programs and The Coalition for Child Care of Nassau Country where Dr. Greenman, the first president, helped to develop an important methodology to assist child care centers in achieving National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation.

As an integral member of the Coalition for Child Care of Nassau County, Dr. Greenman and his team worked with over 30 child care centers at all levels of readiness for accreditation. The lessons learned from this effort now inform The Training Center’s work in staff development, organizational consultation and helping centers achieve either accreditation or success in the new Quality Stars NY system.

The Training Center's essential strength as a training organization is due in large part to its experience with the start up and management of numerous high quality employer supported and community based child care centers that achieved accreditation by NAEYC.

Along the way, First Class also won the Long Island Family Friendly Employer (LIFFE) award of the Health and Welfare Council. Other winners included DuPont and Carr Business Machines.

All Training Center consultants and instructors have a long history of experience with management, hiring, staff development and supervision. Every member of our team has either been a center director, multi-site trainer or master teacher. The Accreditation Readiness Program was created by current Training Center Instructors. Marni Gavritsas, Educational Training Director is a former Director of a child care center that achieved accreditation utilizing the Accreditation Readiness Program.
